The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) website shares resources for people struggling to cope at this time and helps us remember that “no matter where you are or what you’re going through, you don’t have to go through it alone.”

Plan Member Resources

Manulife has provided plan members with a document on “Frequently Asked Questions about COVID-19 and your Manulife Group Benefits plan.” The document includes information on coverage when traveling and COVID-19 testing.

Our Employee and Family Assistance Plan (EFAP) provider, LifeWorks, offers support to Group Health Benefits plan members in a variety of ways:

  1. Uninterrupted services and continued online and phone support,
  2. Online resources with topics such as: Family & Children, Staying Safe, Impact on Work and Mental Health & Wellbeing.
  3. Library of complimentary webinars related to COVID-19 issues including information on working remotely, talking to your children, and emotional wellbeing.

Message from the GSI Board

These are challenging times for all of us. Please know that the GSI Board understands how stressful it is for our plan members. The Board continues to diligently monitor and review the ever-changing conditions and we are engaging with our consultants for their expertise. While there are no easy solutions, GSI will do what is prudent going forward.

GSI Office COVID-19 workplan

Manitoba is back to code red. Therefore, as an essential service we are continuing to work from home and coming into the office about one day a week on a staff staggered basis. Your phone calls will be returned when we are in the office so please be patient.

Recently, Manitoba has been slowly opening up and GSI has returned to a normal work schedule at the office. While we are enjoying some vacation in a beautiful warm Manitoba, someone is always at the office to assist you. If we missed your call, we will get back to you as soon as we can. 

Take care and stay healthy. We will advise should the situation change again.

Please note that in Manitoba, non-essential businesses have closed. GSI is considered essential under item 34 on the essential businesses list as “A business that provides pension services and employee benefits services”.

To maintain physical distancing, we are working in shifts at the office, combined with working from home. We will respond to phone messages and emails as quickly as we are able and continue to support you in the weeks to come.
