The Board provides strategic direction and oversight for the affairs of the corporation and its management of the pension and benefits plans. Terms have been staggered so that there is always a mix of new and experienced Board Directors; for this reason, we are always looking for new candidates.[\/vc_column_text][toggles style=”default” border_radius=”none”][toggle color=”Default” heading_tag=”default” heading_tag_functionality=”default” title=”Board Composition”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]The Board benefits from the\u00a0diverse backgrounds and various life experiences<\/strong>\u00a0that the Directors bring. Several are\u00a0rostered leaders<\/strong>. Directors share their expertise in one or more\u00a0areas relevant to our work<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g., pensions, investments, Treasurers, benefits, wellness, communications, the ELCIC). Together, we enjoy\u00a0great camaraderie<\/strong>\u00a0as we work collaboratively to support Plan Members and Employers.<\/p>\n Applicants should either be a member of an ELCIC congregation or familiar with and friendly towards the ELCIC.<\/p>\n The Board consists of eight individuals. GSI sees value in having Plan Members serve on the Board and reserves at least two positions for active (i.e., enrollment status of employee in at least one plan sponsored by GSI at time of election) Plan Members, preferably one rostered and one non-rostered. Each year you will attend two 2-day Board meetings, at least one of which will be held in person in\u00a0Winnipeg<\/strong>\u00a0and occasional special Board meetings (1 hour) by\u00a0video call<\/strong>. You will also participate in the work of\u00a0at least two Board Committees<\/strong>\u00a0(i.e., Investment, Finance & Audit, Benefits, Governance, Communications) that meet as needed (typically once before each Board meeting) by video call.<\/p>\n To assist you in these important tasks, you will have the opportunity to receive\u00a0continuing education<\/strong>\u00a0including conferences and presentations by experts at Board meetings.<\/p>\n Directors are eligible to serve two consecutive 4-year terms<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/toggle][\/toggles][toggles style=”default” border_radius=”none”][toggle color=”Default” heading_tag=”default” heading_tag_functionality=”default” title=”Elections of Directors and Officers”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]National Church Council (NCC)<\/strong> elects the Directors of ELCIC Group Services Inc.<\/p>\n The Officers and committee chairs<\/strong> are elected by the Board of Directors<\/strong> from among their numbers.
