This tool provides an easy and efficient way to record vacation time, sick leave, and unpaid leave.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maintaining accurate absence records is important for two reasons:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When an employee&#8217;s employment ends, any unused vacation time must be paid out. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sick leave records are essential when an employee applies for Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits. There is a two-week (10 working day) waiting period before STD benefits begin; during that time, available sick leave is used. If an employee does not have sufficient sick leave to cover the waiting period, the remaining days are considered unpaid.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Employee Absence Tracker is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/elcicgsi.ca\/?page_id=15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms &amp;
